Each beautifully designed card or 3D figurine contains a tiny RFID chip. Simply place it on the box — no pairing, no setup, no screens.

Audio Plays Instantly
Rich, high-quality audio fills the room within a second. No Wi-Fi needed, no buffering, no loading screens. Stories are stored right on the device.

Use the free Cultural Archive App to record stories in any family member's voice. Grandparents can record from their own phone, even from another city.

Stories Sync to the Box
When connected to Wi-Fi, new stories from the app sync automatically to your BoxTales device. New tales appear as magic cards, ready to play.
Wi-Fi is only needed for syncing new content. Once downloaded, everything works completely offline.

RFID Technology
Each card or figurine has a tiny, passive RFID chip — no battery needed. When placed on the box, the reader identifies it in milliseconds and triggers the right audio. It is the same proven technology used in metro cards and contactless payments.
ESP32 Brain
The box runs on an ESP32 microcontroller — a powerful, energy-efficient chip that handles audio playback, LED animations, and Wi-Fi sync. Think of it as a tiny, purpose-built computer designed to do one thing exceptionally well: tell stories.
Offline-First Design
All stories are stored locally on the device. Wi-Fi is only used to download new stories from the app. Once synced, the box works anywhere — in the car, at grandma's house, or on a train. No internet required for playback.
